2sdays: "Hearts Beat Loud"

2sdays: "Hearts Beat Loud"

This sweet, feel-good father-daughter drama stars Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) and Kiersey Clemons as his daughter and bandmate. When one of their songs finds online success, widower and aging Brooklyn hipster Frank must learn to let go of his dreams of stardom and allow his daughter Sam to find her own path in life, including college in California. The pair have real chemistry and, as Larushka Ivan-Zadeh of The Times (UK) says: “Offerman puts in a subtle turn beneath his ageing-hipster beard and Clemons is deliciously natural as the exasperated Sam.” Appreciation for Offerman’s performance is echoed by many critics, including Paul Byrnes of The Sydney Morning Herald, who says it is “as powerful as it is quiet.” The music, however, is loud! Hannah Woodhead of Little White Lies calls Hearts Beat Loud “a slice of pure cinematic joy.” What’s more, it’s a film you could enjoy with your children or grandchildren. The supporting cast includes favorite actors Ted Danson, Blythe Dinner and Toni Collette. To sum up, Adriana Gomez-Weston, The Cinema Soloist, says, “Hearts Beat Loud is not only a tribute to the joy that music can bring, but it is also a celebration of the bond between a daughter and her father. 1:37. Rated PG-13 for drug references and brief language.
