Sussex Bird Club | Everyone’s Favorites: The “Seagulls”

Online & In-Person

Join The Sussex Bird Club online or in the library to tackle one of the trickiest birds to identify, seagulls. George Armistead will provide a quick and dirty primer on how to approach identifying one of the more challenging but fascinating avian families. The focus is on species encountered in the Mid-Atlantic region.

George Armistead leads birding and wildlife tours for Hillstar Nature, a travel company he founded in 2021. George has guided trips to all seven continents and authored two books: Better Birding: Tips, Tools, and Concepts for the Field and The ABA Field Guide to the Birds of Pennsylvania. He has a masters in environmental studies from University of Pennsylvania, and is an associate at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. He's an avid fan of Philadelphia sports and loves spending time at home too with his wife Kristin and their dog, Sully.

The Sussex Bird Club's primary objective is to promote the knowledge and enjoyment of wild birds through guided field trips and monthly meetings about various aspects of birding. Meetings are open to all and beginning birders are always welcome.
