In Harmony Concert Series: "Mother's Highway Junction"

In Harmony Concert Series: "Mother's Highway Junction"

Mother’s Highway Junction, led by 2011 DDOA Emerging Artist Fellow Mike Miller, creates powerful original and Americana music. Complete with John Kidd on harmonica and vocals and Bob Hamel on bass, the band’s unique sound innovates traditional themes and styles with Miller’s lyrics and songwriting. The band decided to start performing publicly in 2020, following a few jam sessions where the sound created was much greater than the sum of its parts. The band’s name, as well as the tag line of “The World’s First and Only Original Power Trio,” each point to the contradictions inherent in artistic labels, and also the creative potential represented by those very contradictions. In addition to arrangements of Miller’s original songs, the band’s expansive set list ranges from traditional blues to cowboy songs to roots rock to ballads, all arranged through the ears of three earnest musicians. The band loves nothing more than sharing these works with the community, and opening up the chance for people to experience great music in new yet familiar ways.

This program is supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events at www.DelawareScene.com.
