Performer's Bio:

For guitarist Matt Richards bridging and blending musical styles has become a comfortable habit. As a solo acoustic artist he draws upon an array of stylistic influences and wraps them together with energized finesse. His solo release "Balance" was described as world jazz, a fitting description of Matt's music.

The culturally fertile cross-currents of the late 1960s provided Matt with the inspiration to take up the guitar and take on the folk, pop and rock music that filled that decade. As his talent matured, he was drawn into straight-ahead jazz, classical and world music, and began to seriously develop his musical skills.

Matt's notable features include the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Lewiston Jazz and Music Festival, the National Constitution Center, the One Month Festival of South Korea and the Kimmel RPAC. He has performed with Larry Coryell, Mike Clark, Joey DeFrancesco, Kenwood Dennard, Essra Mohawk, Elio Villafranca and Bobby Zankel.

In June of 2022 Matt will re-release his solo album "Balance" which will include new live tracks and special-edition CD packaging. In 2021 he released "Power Trio Project" featuring his electric-jazz trio in both live and studio settings.
