Homeschool Connection: Composting - Nature's Recyclers with R.O.O.T.S. Youth Development Program
The earth provides us with a multitude of resources. Learn how to be good stewards of the earth and find ways to use those resources effectively. Taking a few extra steps to create a compost is better for our soil and better for our environment. This composting lesson will focus on how we should recycle what we eat, use, and grow to better our soil. It will explain the stages of compost, how it breaks down, what is needed to make the reaction work, what we CAN compost, what we CAN'T compost, how it benifits us, and how to observe different soil types. Students will make a compost bag that they can take home to use to start their own compost piles!
R.O.O.T.S. (Reaching Outside of Traditional Schooling) Youth Development Program is a unique after school program focused on giving children experiences, life lessons, practical life skills, and hands on fun!
Homeschool Connection is our monthly program for K - 5th grade homeschool students. We host a variety of presenters on different topics, and include a library skills extension for each class. Check in the kids' room for the schedule of presenters.
