CANCELLED: 2sdays: "Knives Out"

When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan's dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan's death.

Keeping viewers guessing, amused, and maybe even more politically aware than before is a tall order for a film over two hours long, but writer-director Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper, and The Last Jedi) keeps all the balls up in the air in this perfect and stylish mystery. It’s no wonder he was nominated for a Best Screenplay Oscar. He’s aided with a stellar and mostly famous cast that includes Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon and LaKeith Stanfield.

Joe Morgenstern of The Wall Street Journal says Knives Out is “as smart, witty, stylish and exhilarating as any movie lover could wish for.”

2:10, rated PG-13 for thematic material including brief violence, some strong language, sexual references, drug material, and one arresting white sweater.
