DESCRIPTION:Online & In-Person\n\n \n\nJoin us The Sussex Bird Club 
 in-person in the library or online for a discussion about rare birds by 
 Matt Hafner. Some birdwatchers like to keep lists of what they see and get 
 excited when a new bird for them to “tick” shows up in a Rare Bird 
 Alert. This recently occurred when the American Flamingo showed up in 
 Pennsylvania or the Red-flanked Bluetail in New Jersey\, and birders from 
 all over flocked to see these rare birds. But what is a rare bird and what 
 should you do when you think you found one? Matt will discuss what you can 
 do.\n\nMatt Hafner started birding in high school with Harford Bird Club 
 legend Spike Updegrove. He is now the Chair of the Maryland/DC Records 
 Committee\, a reviewer for Maryland eBird\, and the co-coordinator for 
 Harford County in the MD Breeding Bird Atlas. He has led many field trips 
 for various bird clubs and local pelagic trips\, but now mostly birds in 
 his yard with his kids.\n\nThe Sussex Bird Club's primary objective is to 
 promote the knowledge and enjoyment of wild birds through guided field 
 trips and monthly meetings about various aspects of birding. Meetings are 
 open to all and beginning birders are always welcome.\n\n\nNOTE: this 
 session is available to attend in-person or through Zoom. You MUST REGISTER
