Nautical Knots: History & Craft

Nautical Knots: History & Craft

Join Delaware Seashore State Park / Indian River Life-Saving Station for a fun and free program. Learn a little about mariner history by learning to tie different practical knots that were commonly used by sailors. Then construct your own personal knot board to display all of your finished knots at home. Some of the knots covered could be bowline, figure eight, and double half hitch.

Registration is required. Please note: Craft classes are extremely popular at the library. If you cannot attend the class, please cancel your registration using the link provided in your email or give us a call as soon as possible so others on the waitlist may attend the program. If you are wait-listed, please check your email frequently, as cancellations could move you into the class.

This program is designed to empower community members to tap into creativity, artistic literacy, and expression while also creating opportunity for positive social interaction, idea exchange and relaxation. Social activities such as crafts also have been shown to slow cognitive decline as we age and can assist seniors with concentration and dexterity. This program also includes local history.

You are eligible to attend three art/craft classes per quarter (March - May 2023).

Please note: Due to extreme demand, you may only attend each of these classes once a year.

 - Watercolor Art Classes

 - Acrylic Art Classes

 - Jewelry Making

 - Flower Arranging

If you register for one of these high demand craft classes, and you have already attended that particular class in 2022, your registration will be cancelled.
