Loopin' for the Library is a self-paced bike ride to support the library. Exercise is beneficial for your physical AND mental well-being. Loopin' is an opportunity to work out for yourself and for a good cause!

Join us at the library on Saturday, June 4 as we officially kick off Loopin' with:

• Bike Rodeo for kids run by the Delaware Department of Transportation
• Games for families and adults
• Bike Safety Station run by Sussex Cyclists
• information tables hosted by Delaware Greenways, DelDOT, and the Lewes Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee
• FREE FOOD (!) including Kona shaved ice, soft pretzels, popcorn, and drinks

A Bike Rodeo is a bicycle safety clinic featuring a number of skill stations, simulating what bicyclists would encounter while out riding. The main focus of a bike rodeo is Cycling Safety for young cyclists. Prior to starting the rodeo each child will be fitted with a bicycle helmet and hear a safety lecture about the rules of the road. Kids can bring their own bike and helmet. DELDOT will loan bikes and helmets to those who need them.

Sussex Cyclists are staffing a Bike Safety Station, including:

• Demonstrations on how a bicycle and rider should be equipped for safe riding (for example, front and rear lights, bright clothing, etc.)
• Offering a safety inspection of any bike brought to the event. They will make minor adjustments, and can recommend professional repair of more serious defects
• At 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM they will demonstrate "Fixing a Flat"

If you're registered, you can pick up your swag. If you're not registered yet, we can sign you up that day!
In the event of inclement weather, all activities except the bike rodeo will move indoors to the large meeting room.

Ride registration is open now through June 30, 2022.

• Adults (18+) $30
• Teens (13 - 17) $10 for the first teen in the household and $5 for each additional teen in the household
• Kids (12 and under) ride for free

You can register as an individual or as a member of a team.
 

All paid adult and teen registrants receive:

• One pair of custom tech bike socks with the Loopin' logo
• One cooling headband with the Lewes Public Library logo
• One free entry into the raffle for an Electra Cruiser Go! Step-Thru E-bike (valued at $1,550) donated by Lewes Cycle Sports.

Kids 12 and under who are registered receive:

• Their choice of a bike bell, spoke beads, or a cooling headband- One (1) Lewes Public Library sticker
