Sussex County Genealogical Society | Holdings of the Maryland Archives & How to Access Them

Join Sussex County Genealogical Society (SCGS) in-person at the library or online for for a presentation by Rachel Frazier on the Maryland Archives. The talk includes a brief background on the Archives, explanation of primary and secondary sources, overview of holdings and collection types, new research guides and video tutorials, and preparing to conduct research. Dive into government records, births, deaths, marriages, probate records, land records, slavery records, other court records. Frazier also will review special collections, include photographs, newspapers, religious records, and maps.

SCGS is a non-profit organization and its mission is to promote genealogy and educational work in a professional manner, encourage and instruct its members in genealogical research through careful documentation and maintain quality genealogical standards.
