Sussex Bird Club | Owls of the Mid-Atlantic
Online
Join the Sussex Bird Club in the library or online to explore the fascinating natural history of the owls of the Mid-Atlantic with naturalist and photographer Jim White. Jim will explore the habits and habitats of the eight species of owls that can be found in our area. Learn how to identify them by sight and sound, and where to observe our common and not so common species.
Jim is a native Delawarean, a graduate of the University of Delaware, and a longtime member of the Delaware Ornithological Society. He has worked for the Delaware Nature Society for 39 years, currently serving as the Senior Fellow for Land and Biodiversity Management. He has led many natural history field trips to the woodlands, mountains, and coastal areas of the eastern U.S. and the New World tropics. In addition to insects, amphibians and reptiles, Jim also is keenly interested in birds, especially the owls. He has led many field trips on Delmarva Peninsula in pursuit of owls and through his photography presents owl programs throughout our area.
This is the monthly meeting of The Sussex Bird Club. The Sussex Bird Club's primary objective is to promote the knowledge and enjoyment of wild birds through guided field trips and monthly meetings about various aspects of birding. Meetings are open to all and beginning birders are always welcome.
