Join us online for a viewing of a pre-recorded interview with global icon, Dr. Jane Goodall, discussing her new book, The Book of Hope: A Survival Guide for Trying Times. Jane also talks about the Lewes Public Library's Jane Goodall Root & Shoots Chapter. For the past 30 years, Dr. Goodall has been speaking about the threats facing chimpanzees, other environmental crises, and her reasons for hope that humankind will solve the problems it has imposed on the earth. Dr. Goodall’s honors include the French Legion of Honor, the Medal of Tanzania, the Tang Prize, the Templeton Prize, and Japan’s prestigious Kyoto Prize. In 2002, Dr. Goodall was appointed to serve as a United Nations Messenger of Peace and in 2003, she was named a Dame of the British Empire. The Lewes Public Library started its Roots & Shoots Chapter in 2019. There currently are 16 active teenaged members. The mission of the Chapter is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, as well as inspire individuals to take action to make the world a place that is more sustainable, more environmentally sound, and a better world to live in.
