POSTPONED - Tea on the Delaware: A Lecture & Sampling
This program has been postponed.
Join J. Marcos Salaverria, Director of Education with the Lewes Historical Society for a historical lecture about tea. Starting in 1773, Great Britain levied a tax on tea against the 13 Colonies. Great Britain sent seven tea ships across the Atlantic, 3 of the most famous were located in Boston. On December 19, 1773 the Sons of Liberty, protested the tea taxation by destroying the "detestable weed", tea into the Harbor. During this lecture you will learn how Delaware was directly affected by these events. This presentation gives you the opportunity to learn the etiquette of tea and sample several varieties of tea, including Gunpowder Green, the very variety tasted by our Founding Fathers & Mothers. The first 30 participants will be guaranteed a seat in the audience if they wish and will be called to confirm. Subsequent registrants will be able to watch the program via Zoom. Registration opens Dec. 15 @ 10 am.
