Celebrating Italian-Americans: Fiorello La Guardia
In-person
La Guardia was the first Italian-American elected to Congress [1916] and to the mayoralty of NYC [1933] during a time when hyphenated Americans were regarded with hostility and discriminated against. How did La Guardia’s ethnicity shape his values, character, and rise to power?
Join us for a presentation by Jo-Ann Vega, proud Italian-American, who has designed and delivered well-received ancestry and history programs at the library. Jo-Ann has 30 years of experience making presentations to business, community, and academic groups.
Registration is requested.
