Conversation with Anne Lamott and Neal Allen | Dusk Night Dawn and Shapes of Truth

Online
Online & In-Person

AS OF MONDAY, AUGUST 16 THE LIBRARY REACHED MAXIMUM ROOM CAPACITY FOR IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE. HOWEVER, YOU MAY STILL REGISTER TO ATTEND VIRTUALLY.

Join us either in-person or online for a conversation with authors and spouses Anne Lamott and Neal Allen, as they take a break from their annual family beach vacation in Rehoboth to talk about writing, spiritual matters, relationships, and other trivial subjects. They also will discuss their most recent releases (Dusk Night Dawn by Lamott and Shapes of Truth by Allen). There will be a book signing at the library following the event.

About Dusk Night Dawn: From the bestselling author of Help Thanks Wow comes an inspiring guide to restoring hope and joy in our lives. In Dusk Night Dawn, Anne Lamott explores the tough questions that many of us grapple with. How can we recapture the confidence we once had as we stumble through the dark times that seem increasingly bleak? As bad news piles up—from climate crises to daily assaults on civility—how can we cope? Where, she asks, “do we start to get our world and joy and hope and our faith in life itself back . . . with our sore feet, hearing loss, stiff fingers, poor digestion, stunned minds, broken hearts?”

About Shapes of Truth: Hidden in your body is a set of 35 divine objects that represent aspects of God. They can grant immediate and sustained relief from everyday suffering. Shapes of Truth unveils this remarkable discovery and provides step-by-step instructions for encountering them yourself. With parallels in Platonist philosophy and Sufi mysticism, these eternal body-forms are trippy and wondrous. More about Neal and the book at shapesoftruth.com.

Anne Lamott is the New York Times best-selling author of  19 books, including collections of essays, novels such as Rosie and Imperfect Birds, and long-form non-fiction including the classic writing manual Bird by Bird and childrearing memoir Operating Instructions.
