Kalmar Nyckel: Sailing a 17th-century Colonial Ship into the 21st Century
OnlineSamuel Heed, Senior Historian & Director of Education of the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation, will give a talk on the original Kalmar Nyckel, which served as Peter Minuit’s flagship for the Swedish expedition that launched the colony of New Sweden in 1638. Today’s Kalmar Nyckel, built in Wilmington, and first launched in 1997, is called "The Tall Ship of Delaware". It serves as a full-scale replica of the original. Learn about both ships in this educational talk via Zoom.
