Metacognition Strategies for Middle School Homeschoolers

Metacognition Strategies for Middle School Homeschoolers

Online

met·a·cog·ni·tion   /ˌmedəˌkäɡˈniSH(ə)n/  noun   PSYCHOLOGY

  1. awareness and understanding of one's own thought processes.

  2. thinking about thinking

Metacognition involves monitoring one's own learning to recognize which study skills work best for a person. This concept needs to be explicitly taught along with content instruction to maximize learning.  An excellent opportunity to develop these skills exists in middle school aged students, who are quickly developing critical thinking skills. We invite middle school aged homeschoolers (ages 10-14) and their parent educators to join us for this 4 week program.  Students will be actively engaged, while parents will observe the skills being taught, with the outcome of providing parents with new critical thinking skills they and their children can continue to use.

When Registering, please register both student and parent.

Materials for each session will be emailed on the Monday before each Tuesday session.
