Spanish Conversation Group

Spanish Conversation Group

Online

Join Spanish speakers 18+ to improve your Spanish-speaking skills. Please note: basic Spanish conversational ability is required.

For more than a decade, this group has met at the Lewes Public Library where students can practice, improve and enjoy their Spanish. Owing to COVID, we now meet via Zoom and not in the library building.

We are not a traditional class — there is no Spanish teacher. Instead, we are a group of people who already speak some Spanish, or who have studied some Spanish, or who are now taking some classes elsewhere. Our members include retirees, college students, and others who have a range of Spanish speaking abilities. Members of the group make suggestions as to what we might do in future classes. There is usually a ‘homework’ assignment preparing each person to talk in Spanish for 2 to 3 minutes to the group. We also have 'icebreakers', we play games, and listen to 'invited guests' who speak on various topics. Each week is different. Nearly all of the discussions are in Spanish.

Not sure if this is right for you?  Then attend a session and see for yourself. We are very informal, friendly and there is no pressure to participate. You’ll know if the group is right for you. If you sign up, we’ll send you the agenda for the next meeting, including our Zoom link. Or for more information, call José at 202 494-2623.

NOTE: this meeting is being conducted through Zoom. You MUST REGISTER to receive instructions for how to join the meeting. If you need help with registration or your Zoom meeting invitation, email the library.

Basic written instructions for using Zoom may be found here and a brief video tutorial may be found here.
