"A Christmas Carol"

"A Christmas Carol"

Online

The Lewes Public Library Shakespeare Festival presents a virtual staged reading of Dickens’ immortal classic, “A Christmas Carol.”

In this beloved Victorian English story, the avaricious and cruel-hearted Scrooge finds salvation and redemption in his experiences of self-reflection, guided by the spectral influences of the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and yet-to-come. Four outstanding readers bring the tale to life in a staged reading guaranteed to be a magical evening of holiday entertainment.

This performance features professional actors David Logan Rankin and Sadie Andros (most recently seen in performance in the library’s Halloween offering of “The Vampyre and The Last Vampire”) in partnership with local talented amateurs Maud and Harry Banks bringing all of the famous characters to life.

Actor’s Equity and SAG member David Logan Rankin has spent decades working on New York and regional stages and in film, video, and television. He was honored with the Overall Excellence Award in Acting for his performance in the NYC Fringe Festival and his performance as Iago in The Shakespeare Project’s Othello was named a Notable Performance distinction by Backstage Magazine. Sadie Andros, drama director at Cape Henlopen High School, is well known to local audiences through her work with Clear Space Theatre and the Lewes Public Library Shakespeare Festival. She also has worked on stages in New York and London. Maud and Harry Banks have appeared in community theatre productions in the Lewes area as well as in Florida, and Maud appeared in the library’s staged reading piece Snowflakes last year.

The Shakespeare Festival, a program of the Lewes Public Library since 2015, seeks to provide the community with experiences that foster the understanding of Shakespeare and the world in which he lived and wrote. In addition the Festival fosters the development of new works celebrating the spoken word and hosting performances of classical texts.
