The One Minute African American Historian | How to do African-American History Research in the Digital Age

Online

When we look for information today we Google or surf the web. These new information finding tools also have made historic information databases easily navigated and searched. This lecture shows how African-American newspapers going back to 1827 can be explored to better understand the conditions under which African-Americans lived during the last 200 years, and teaches you how to design the research project to improve the quality of the final product you are producing. In addition, access to African-American newspapers allows you to read the opinions of African-American journalists and have access to the speeches which African-American historic figures gave. You can hear Frederick Douglass, Ida B. Wells, Booker T. Washington speak in their own words and find out what African-Americans who lived hundreds of years ago really said.

Syl Woolford is a native Delawarean who currently resides in Newark, Delaware. Mr. Woolford is a graduate of Delaware State University with a Degree in Business Administration /Accounting and a graduate of Rutgers University with an MBA in Marketing.
