Each spring, hundreds of thousands of shorebirds converge on the shores of Delaware Bay. This breathtaking display is not seen anywhere else in the world. The Bay is a major rest and refueling stop for the shorebirds as they travel from South America to the Canadian Arctic. Today, however, this amazing natural cycle is being disrupted. The numbers of migratory shorebirds stopping here are in serious decline.

Jean Woods, Ph.D., Curator of Birds at the Delaware Museum of Natural History, will speak about the Delaware Shorebird Project. Dr. Woods works closely with the Delaware Shorebird Project, which is led by the Delaware Division of Fish & Wildlife to study these shorebirds, particularly the threatened Red Knot. Dr. Woods will present on the research being done in Delaware, discuss threats these birds face, and share some ways you can help them.
