DLA Legislative Day Lite

DLA Legislative Day Lite

WHAT:  NEW THIS YEAR!  DLA wil be hosting a Legislative Action Day Lite.

WHEN:  Wednesday, January 22nd at 9:30am

WHERE:  Dover Public Library

Wednesday, January 22nd, DLA Leg Day Lite, will offer professional development that aims to help all libraries build their data and stories for advocacy throughout the year, including the May event.

Agenda, beginning at 9:30am

  • Workshop by Eli Turkel, a former Delaware legislative aide
  • Secretary of State Jeffrey Bullock will remark on the current budget landscape
  • Dr. Annie Norman will remark on libraries and their funding history
  • John Phillos will discuss current library construction initiatives

At 11:30am DLA will host an exhibit in Legislative Hall.  During this time participants are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to meet with their legislators.  At the very least, all participants should leave a library newsletter or brochure and their business card with their legislators.  If you are able to set up a sit-down meeting that's even better!  If you have cultivated a personal relationship with your legislators stop over to say hi, remind them what the library is up to, and invite them to visit!

At 2:00pm a proclamation will be read in the House and Senate to celebrate Library Legislative Day

At 2:30pm Dr. Annie Norman will speak at the Joint Education Committee meeting where she will give an overivew of the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library pilot.  This is an open committee meeting held in the Senate chamber.  Please plan to stay, listen and show your support.

Registration is required.  A light brunch will be provided at the Dover Public Library.
