After discussions with city and state officials, as well as with Ms. Ackerman, the Lewes Loves Books partners and Lewes Public Library regret to announce we are postponing her appearance in Lewes until a future date. We regret having to make this decision, but feel it is in everyone's best interest at this time.

Lewes Loves Books, a One Book One Community program involving a number of Lewes organizations, is proud to bring Jennifer Ackerman, highly acclaimed author of The Genius of Birds and Birds by the Shore to the Lewes area. Previously released as Notes from the Shore, this is a book of essays about Ms. Ackerman’s two years in Lewes, where she developed a reverence for nature – its rhythms, its creatures, and their habitats. An exploration of the natural life of the mid-Atlantic coast, this book takes the reader on a journey to the ocean’s edge, to view the habits of shorebirds, the movement of sand and tides, the wealth of creatures that survive amid storm and surf.

Following the presentation, the author will sign copies of her book which will be available for purchase by Browseabout Books. Before and after the presentation please stop by our information fair to visit with all of the Lewes Loves Books partners and find out what they have to offer nature lovers.
