2sdays: "All Is True"

The year is 1613, and William Shakespeare is acknowledged as the greatest writer of the age when his renowned Globe Theatre burns. Devastated, he returns to his home in Stratford to face his neglected family and troubled past. Haunted by the death of his only son, he struggles to mend the broken relationships with his wife and daughters, and is forced to examine his own failings as a husband and father. His very personal search for the truth uncovers secrets and lies within a family at war. This is beautifully filmed and features Kenneth Branagh, who also directed the film, along with Judi Dench and Ian McKellen. Cate Marquis of We Are Movie Geeks praises All Is True: “Ben Elton's well-researched and cleverly built script offers plenty of delights for fans of the Bard, further enhanced with Branagh's fine direction and its wonderful cast.” Another critic, Jeff Beck of The Blu Spot calls the movie “a splendid little treat for Shakespeare fans, especially for those who've always wanted to know a little more about the man himself.” And Andrea Gronvall of the Chicago Reader says co-creators “Branagh and Elton do what the Bard did himself: take something-be it someone else's idea, an historical fact, or a recent event-and mash it up with original material, to fashion an entertainment that feels real.”1:41. Rated PG-13 for thematic material, suggestive material and language.
