Resource CONNECT Workshop Sept 12- Suicide Prevention Awareness
September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Studies by the Center for Disease Control
and Prevention show that suicide rates are increasing. In 2017, 47,173 Americans died by suicide. Suicide
is the 10th-leading cause of death in the U.S. and Veteran suicide is a national concern. In 2016, the
suicide rate for Veterans was 1.5 times greater than for non-Veteran adults. We can all help prevent
suicide. At this workshop, learn how to recognize and respond to suicide. Talking about suicide can help
those who are thinking of suicide obtain help and services. Just one conversation can change a life.
