The History Book Festival (HBF) and the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild (RBWG) are partnering to present a special, 10th HBF anniversary writing and craft talk with award-winning author Beth Kephart. A writer, teacher, and paper-and-fiber artist, Kephart combines her art and words in The Hush and the Howl, her bestselling Substack newsletter. She is a National Book Award finalist and the author of over 40 books across multiple genres. An award-winning educator, she currently teaches writing at the University of Pennsylvania. This event echoes HBF’s tagline “Find Your Place in History” and current America250 observances. Her presentation will encourage attendees to think about their own family ties to history and how those memories and connections can be imaginatively preserved. In writing Tomorrow Will Bring Sunday’s News: A Philadelphia Story, Kephart turned to memory, imagination, and essential ephemera to bring the story of her grandmother - and her city - to life. In her talk, she will offer insights into that process and illustrate craft strategies and prompts designed to inspire those who hope to remember more acutely and write more evocatively. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
