American Sign Language (ASL) Beginner Class will introduce the manual alphabet also known as fingerspelling and basic sign language. Participants will learn and utilize fingerspelling and basic signs to communicate. There will be interactive fun activities incorporating fingerspelling and basic ASL signs.

Instructor Terri Worek was an early childhood educator at Rochester School for the Deaf and was an adjunct ASL professor from National Technical Institute for the Deaf/Rochester Institute of Technology. She has extensive experience with children and teaching ASL. Assistant Instructor Mary Ann Richmond is currently a retiree after working 28 years for Maryland School for the Deaf as a family education/early childhood teacher.

This program is co-hosted by Delaware Deaf Senior Citizens (DDSC), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving a growing number of Deaf and hard of hearing senior citizens in Delaware. The mission of DDSC is to enhance the well-being of Deaf and hard of hearing senior citizens, improve communication access and increase awareness about the Deaf community and American Sign Language (ASL).

Class size is limited to 20 people. Each individual attending must register to reserve a seat. Do NOT sign up two people under one reservation.
