Creative Aging: The Joy of Drawing

Teaching artist Rebecca Howell leads The Joy of Drawing. This 8 week program is part of Creative Aging, an arts initiaitve for ages 55+. Using easy to approach drawing exercises participants will be encouraged to experiment with mark making and self expression to uncover the joy in making art. Techniques learned include additive and subtractive drawing, contour drawing, negative space, oil pastel resist. Genres covered: Abstract, Still Life, Landscape. Participants will be introduced to a variety of drawing media and given a basic introduction to using them. Participants will feel comfortable using the materials and using artistic vocabulary. This class will be a friendly and approachable atmosphere, forming a cohort of learning and free exchange of conversation with a variety of completed projects by the end of class. A culminating art show will be held in the library. 

This program meets for 8 weekly session on Wednesday's from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Open to ages 55+. Registration is required. Questions? Call the library at 302-834-4148.
