Learn American Mah Jong! (Part 1)

Learn American Mah Jong! (Part 1)

Are you interested in learning how to play the American version of Mahjong? The South Coastal library is offering a free 3-part series on the basics of Mahjong taught by local instructor Lisa Stern. At the end of the three lessons, you should have a better understanding of how to play so that you can join a local group in your area. The game requires a commitment to the learning process, a positive attitude, and takes some practice. Each lesson is 2.5 - 3 hours long so light snacks will be provided but please feel free to bring a non-alcoholic drink with you.

  • 2025 Mah Jong Large Print cards are available to borrow for this class and we will also have tile sets for in-house use.
  • The purpose of this class is to learn how to play the game and games played are just for fun. No gambling is allowed on library property.
  • Dates:  Monday, October 27 @ 1 pm | Friday, October 31 @ 1 pm | Monday, Nov. 3 @ 1 pm | Meeting Room A
