Sussex Bird Club | Climate Change and Delaware Coastal Habitats
Online
Join The Sussex Bird Club in-person in the library or online to learn more about coastal Delaware. Rich in natural beauty, Delaware’s Bayshore is recognized as an area of global ecological significance. In a time of climate change and sea level rise, the Bayshore’s vital coastal ecosystems and biodiverse habitats are being threatened and degraded. Will Helt, The Nature Conservancy in Delaware’s Director of Oceans and Coasts, will discuss these impacts and potential actions to ensure these coastal Bayshore habitats persist into the future.
Will Helt is the Director of Oceans and Coasts for the Pennsylvania & Delaware Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. Will has over 10 years of experience in the coastal resilience space and has previously focused on shellfish and fish habitat restoration. Prior to his time in Delaware, Will worked in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The Sussex Bird Club's primary objective is to promote the knowledge and enjoyment of wild birds through guided field trips and monthly meetings about various aspects of birding. Meetings are open to all and beginning birders are always welcome.
