Financial Fraud - Wednesday, May 7, 2025 - Craig Weldon, DOJ
The Financial Fraud Unit will take a look into the current scams that are facing seniors in our community. Craig Weldon will discuss current trends and what law enforcement face as they try to prosecute these cases. This seminar will include an explanation of the Internet Crimes Complaint Center (IC3) and the role the FBI plays in that entity. There will be a brief history of how the Attorney Generals Office came to work with Delaware Adult Protective Services Unit from the Division of Health an Human Services on some cases.
Consumer Fraud - Wednesday, May 14, 2025 6:00-7:00 p.m. Alan Rachko, DOJ
Consumer Fraud Unit will cover different types of fraud such as Romance Scams, Pop-Up Computer Scams, Texts, Emails, Phone calls about Lottery, Sweepstakes and Government Scams. This presentation will include bogus pictures, certificates and checks that Delaware victims received as well as out of state victims.
Medicaid Fraud - Wednesday, May 21, 2025 6:00-7:00 p.m. Kimberly Brown and Kathi Keopardi
The Medicaid Fraud Unit will cover investigate and prosecute illegal acts relating to Medicaid funds. The State of Delaware and the Federal Government have designated the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU). Created in 1980, the MFCU, which is housed within the Delaware Department of Justice, is designed to protect the Delaware residents who receive Medicaid and the taxpayers who support the program. The MFCU is also responsible for investigating and prosecuting patient abuse, neglect, mistreatment, or exploitation which occurs in Delaware’s health care facilities. The MFCU has a professional staff of prosecutors, investigators and auditors who review allegations
