Delaware Shakespeare Presents Full Fathom Five
The Lewes Public Library Spoken Word Society and Delaware Shakespeare present Emily Schuman in Full Fathom Five, music written from and around characters, sonnets, and moments from Shakespeare.
In Full Fathom Five Emily sings and plays, talks about the history and development of the pieces, and interacts with the audience in a manner that one critic referred to as “simply lovely.” This piece is both a labor of love and a remarkable artistic journey based on Emily’s experiences working with Delaware Shakespeare, Walnut Street Theatre, EgoPo Classic Theatre, and Revolution Shakespeare companies.
A graduate of the Fame! Performing arts high school in NYC and Denison University in Ohio and with postgraduate study in Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, Emily Schuman has worked professionally as a composer, actor, and musical performer since 2013. She joined Delaware Shakespeare as a composer in 2017 and was named an associate artist in music and acting in 2018. Her musical composition and performance skills were featured in last season’s A Winter’s Tale which performed at the library in October and she also has been seen as an actor on Lewes stages in DelShakes’ fall tour of Cymbeline in 2023 and in last October's Shakespeare, Poe, and Fiends. This winter she toured the badlands of North Dakota with Bill Sorensen Productions as the guitarist for the Magical Medora Christmas Show.
Delaware Shakespeare is the region’s premiere professional Shakespearean ensemble. Since 2003, the Wilmington-based troupe has performed a wide array of Shakespeare’s works and Shakespeare-adjacent projects across Delaware and beyond - "We envision a Delaware where people from all walks of life celebrate and explore their shared humanity through the lens of Shakespearean works.”
Each individual attending must register to reserve a seat. Do NOT sign up two people under one reservation.
This program is brought to you by the library's Spoken Word Society, which celebrates the tradition and artistry of oral storytelling through lectures, performances, discussions, demonstrations, and other publicly-shared experiences.
