Poetry and Prose Reading with benjj\Chau
Join us for an evening of powerful poetry and storytelling with Benjamin H. Chau, known as benjj\. benjj\ will be reading selections from their debut work, Reflections of an Impressionably Young Teenager, a young adult demi-novel that tackles the raw edges of coming-of-age through chaos, tragedy, and introspection.
In Reflections, benjj\ brings readers into the complex journey of Benj, a protagonist who faces love, hatred, addiction, and the experience of being an outsider in a way that’s both jarring and thought-provoking. The performance will include pieces like The Actual Proverbial Demeanor, Diseased Rubber Duck, and Death of a Ballad, offering a glimpse into the layered world of teenage angst and reflection.
The evening will also feature new and intense works in progress, covering topics such as social justice, personal trauma, and the struggle for meaning in difficult times. The event will close with a powerful monologue, The Hole in the Doorknob, and an improvised short verse, promising a night of both emotional depth and artistic daring.
benjj\ is active in the Lewes Library's teen volunteer program and serves on its Teen Advisory Board, bringing a strong sense of dedication to our community.
