Mad Hatters and White Elephants: Surprising Origins of Common Phrases
Join us at South Coastal Library for a free, fun and informative program presented by Delaware Humanities speaker, Margaret Opsata. "Saved by the Bell, Baker’s Dozen, It Costs an Arm and a Leg, Wild Goose Chase" …we all know what these everyday expressions mean, but where did they start and how has their usage evolved? Answering these questions for familiar phrases we all know and use is sometimes astonishing, often amusing, and always painlessly educational. In this audience-interactive program we will open a picture window on the exciting world of language. Sponsored and funded by Delaware Humanities.
