The Delaware Poison Candy Murders of 1898

The Delaware Poison Candy Murders of 1898

One Delaware summer afternoon, a young wife in Dover received a gift box of candy in the mail. Two days after enjoying the treat with family and friends, she and her sister were dead of arsenic poisoning. Join Delaware Humanities speaker Margaret Opsata to discover who sent the deadly delicacies, and why, exposing a tangle of lies, jealousy, adultery and betrayal in a trial that mesmerized the entire country in 1898.

This free program has been made possible in part by Delaware Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy demands wisdom.
