The United States Life-Saving Service in Delaware

The United States Life-Saving Service in Delaware

Join us at South Coastal Library for an informative and interesting lecture on the history of the United States Life-Saving Station Service in Delaware. Before the Coast Guard, the brave men of the United States Life-Saving Service battled winds and waves to rescue sailors in distress. Six life-saving stations existed in Delaware and responded to hundreds of wrecks along the coast. Join Delaware Seashore State Park Interpretive Programs Manager Tyler Dreiblatt to discover how they started, how they operated, and what became of them, while also hearing some shipwreck stories!

Free, no library card required. Registration is appreciated but optional.

This program was chosen to enrich patrons' understanding of  local histories through lecture by a qualified speaker with time for audience questions and comment.
