Delaware Shakespeare Presents "The Winter's Tale"

Delaware Shakespeare Presents "The Winter's Tale"

Delaware Shakespeare is proud to present The Winter’s Tale as their 7th Annual Community Tour, which this year includes a stop at the Newark Free Library! The Winter's Tale is directed by Abby Weissman and features music by Del Shakes’ frequent collaborator, Emily Schuman.

In this romantic tale of reconciliation, Leontes and Hermione are living a fairytale life until a wave of unfounded jealousy tears apart their marriage and treasured friendships. Sixteen years later, can the love of their exiled daughter Perdita heal the damage her father brought upon their community? With clowns, shepherds, and the most famous bear in all of theater, The Winter’s Tale weaves an intergenerational story of family and forgiveness.

The Community Tour is a cornerstone of Del Shakes, offering free performances of fully-realized Shakespeare in non-traditional theater spaces featuring only seven actors and live, original music. At Del Shakes, we strive to bring art to the full extent of humanity by presenting performances at community centers, prisons, shelters, and beyond. The majority of tour stops are open to the general public, and we would love to see YOU at these powerful performances! Don't miss this magical story of betrayal, loss, and forgiveness in the unique performance style of the Community Tour. Financial support for this event has been provided by the Friends of the Newark Free Library who are a volunteer non-profit organization bringing support to your library through funding and advocacy. You can visit their webpage HERE
