Author Visit: Randy Schaffer "A Dog Can Make a Difference"

Award-winning Author and Illustrator of “A Dog Can Make A Difference”, Randy Schaffer, will present Story Time on April 13th at 11:00 am. After we read the book and get to know Jesse, a do-good labradoodle, who is the star of the story, we'll take time to color sheets created by Randy of some of the characters in the book. The children will also help create a mural that will be displayed in the library.

Randy began painting and writing at a young age. Her interest in fashion, color, and design led her to a 20-year career in the garment industry buying and designing sportswear. Ultimately she devoted her life's work to religious services. All the while she remained in touch with her artistic passion spending 10 years studying with the renowned artist, Karl Kuerner, whom Andrew Wyeth mentored. Writing and illustrating this book was inspired by a desire to share a story that would show how acts of kindness can make the world a better place. Using animals as the characters seemed to be an enjoyable way of teaching life lessons.

Facts about Jesse

Jesse, our family pet, was an accomplished agility dog. He sneezed when he wanted a treat, was gentle, and loved to cuddle. Jesse filled our home with joy. In this story, Jesse learns how to lend a paw to other dogs, cats, and humans wherever he goes.

In this colorful and heartfelt story Jesse, by his actions, teaches children of all ages about the transformative power of compassion, care, and respect. It beautifully illustrates how one person or one beloved pet can leave a lasting impact on their community and the world.
