First Impressions: A Painterly Drawing Class

First Impressions: A Painterly Drawing Class

In-person

Join us for a fun, engaging, and empowering artistic experience for adults 55+ who would like to investigate their creative potential with local professional teaching artist, Chris Vasil.

Learn art principles of color, value, form, perspective, and composition through a fun and innovative 'hands-on' curriculum using dry drawing media such as colored pencils, markers, oil pastels, and graphite pencil. The goal is to prepare you to create your own impressionistic works of art. The principals and techniques are broken down into understandable, digestible steps. No prior experience necessary. All supplies and workbook exercises are provided. Students must be 55+ and commit to attending all 8 sessions.

At the conclusion of the class series, participants will have the opportunity to be recognized and reveal their artwork to the public during an Impressionist Cafe Exhibit/Coffee and Dessert Social. Gather informally like the 19th Century Parisian Impressionists for coffee and cake and to exhibit Paris Salon-style. The exhibit will be on display in the library through the end of June.

Class size is limited to 10 people who are 55+. Registration is required and participants must commit to attending all 8 sessions.

NOTE: If you sign up and are no longer able to attend, please cancel your registration immediately. If you are placed on the wait list, please check your email frequently for a notice on whether you have moved into the class. If you do not cancel your registration and do not show up for the class, the library will decline your registration for future art workshops.
