CANCELED - Florence Price--Snapshots of My Soul
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED due to unforeseen circumstances. We hope to re-schedule at some point in the future.

Join classical music ensemble Her Tyme 20xx as they present their program, "Florence Price--Snapshots of My Soul."
Florence Price (1887-1953) was the first African American woman composer to have her symphony performed by a major American orchestra. In addition to concertos and orchestral works, she also composed works for choir, violin, piano and organ, as well as art songs and original settings of spirituals, in a style that has been described as “Afro-Romantic.” Ms. Price’s life trajectory bridges the period of Post-Reconstruction and the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement. A private and introverted individual, Ms. Price revealed her personality through her musical compositions, which serve as “snapshots” of her soul.
Her Tyme 20xx is a women’s ensemble of professional musicians who perform in the style of American “lady orchestras,” which were popular from the 1880s through the 1930s. Our concerts highlight music written by and for women and feature themes that recognize the contribution of women to the world of music. For more information, visit the Her Tyme 20xx website.
This event is free and open to the public with support from the Music Performance Trust Fund.
