Walk it Off! Exercise and Heart Health

Discussion includes various evidence-based strategies to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, including the physiological basis of exercise, its impact on cardiovascular health, and national and international guidelines on making an effective exercise regimen part of a comprehensive approach, along with diet and lifestyle, to improve health.

Dr Hisham Sherif is a retired surgeon with 30+ years of clinical and research experience in cardiovascular surgery. He is a strong advocate of healthcare education and awareness for both individuals and the community. Hisham currently teaches several classes on cardiovascular health in our University of DE’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) program in Wilmington.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Delaware is a volunteer based, learning cooperative for adults 50+. The Speakers Bureau is a group of our instructors who are part of our community outreach effort on education, in collaboration with libraries and other venues.
