A VENUS HEART: WOMEN AND HEART DISEASE

A VENUS HEART: WOMEN AND HEART DISEASE

"A Venus Heart" is part of an ongoing course about heart health at OLLI-Wilmington. This particular lecture discusses the differences in causes, risk factors, physiology, disease processes, presentation and outcomes of heart disease in women. Plus an exploration of the root causes for these differences, including historical factors, cultural factors, biases and prejudices.

This, and 2 other courses discussing topics in Healthcare, Medicine and Public Health, continue to be offered in the Spring semester of 2024.

Dr Hisham Sherif is a retired surgeon with 30+ years of clinical and research experience in cardiovascular surgery and other areas. He is a strong advocate of healthcare education, literacy and awareness for both individuals and the community.
