Join The Sussex Bird Club in-person in the library or online to hear to hear Trish Miller talk about Golden Eagles. Each fall an estimated 5,000 Golden Eagles migrate from eastern Canada into the US to spend the winter. They are often visible at hawk watches, but once they arrive on their wintering grounds they are rarely seen. For the last 18 years, Trish Miller and colleagues have been tracking these enigmatic birds to better understand their behavior and ecology during winter and throughout the year. Dr. Miller will present an overview of their findings and their efforts to conserve Golden Eagles in east North America.

Tricia Miller is a Senior Research Wildlife Biologist and Executive Director of Conservation Science Global, a non-profit based in New Jersey. Trish has worked as a biologist at various organizations for 24 years. She completed her PhD research on the movement ecology of Golden Eagles in eastern North America and is a member of the Eastern Golden Eagle Working Group. Her research focuses on movement ecology, habitat selection, and conflicts between raptors and human activities to inform conservation and management. She received her bachelor's in biology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and her master's and doctorate from Penn State.

The Sussex Bird Club's primary objective is to promote the knowledge and enjoyment of wild birds through guided field trips and monthly meetings about various aspects of birding. Meetings are open to all and beginning birders are always welcome.
