LET'S GROW! w/ DE Master Gardeners | Elementary Ages

The topic will be Gardening with the 3R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).  We will keep the program flexible to accommodate preschool to Elementary GR5 .

Reduce - we will explain what it means and solicit input from the audience as to how they can reduce their effect on the environment. Introducing the term carbon footprint.

Recycle - We will bring some guidelines on recycling from the Department of Solid Waste.

Reuse - This will be our main focus and we will talk about using general materials found around the home in your garden. Examples: Milk jugs into watering cans and mini greenhouses, egg cartons, newspaper and toilet paper tubes into planting pots, newspaper & cardboard for smothering weeds and making lasagna gardens, soda bottles for vacation watering and terrariums.

All the children will get to make & take home a toilet paper tube pot(s) and plant some vegetable or herb seeds.

Registration is required for this program as space and supplies are limited.
