Craft Club | The Art of Sashiko Japanese Stitching

Craft Club | The Art of Sashiko Japanese Stitching

In-person

Join us in the library for a craft workshop by local artist Rita Healey on sashiko, which was used to mend, reinforce, and embellish fabric. Traditionally, the hand work was done on indigo (blue) dyed fabric with white thread. This process dates to the Edo period (1603 - 1867). Participants will pick a pattern and create their own sashiko.

No experience is necessary. Class size is limited to 8 people.

NOTE: this class often has a wait list. If you sign up and are no longer able to attend, please cancel your registration immediately. If you are placed on the wait list, please check your email frequently for a notice on whether you have moved into the class.

If you do not cancel your registration and do not show up for the class, the library has the option to decline your registration for future workshops.
