Join Sussex County Genealogical Society (SCGS) in-person at the library or online for a presentation by Melissa Barker, Certified Archives Manager of the Houston County, Tennessee Archives and Museum. Melissa Barker is a Certified Archives Manager working as the Archivist/Records Manager for the past 10 years at the Houston County, Tennessee Archives. She is also a Professional Genealogist and has been working with clients since 2004. She is a well known speaker and writer who lectures across the United States and Canada, virtually and in-person, about researching in archives, genealogy research, and records preservation. She is a well known book reviewer whose reviews are published in several historical and genealogical journals and magazines. Her genealogical research expertise is in Tennessee and Kentucky records. She has been researching her own family history for 30 years.
SCGS is a non-profit organization and its mission is to promote genealogy and educational work in a professional manner, encourage and instruct its members in genealogical research through careful documentation and maintain quality genealogical standards.
