Join Sussex County Genealogical Society (SCGS) in-person at the library or online for the presentation, "Sharing Tips for Researching Your Welsh Relatives" by Jan Jones Batty.
Throughout the years, Jan Jones Batty has extensively researched her Welsh roots. She discovered a number of research tips unique to the Welsh genealogy experience. During this session, we will follow Jan’s guidance and, afterward, share our own tips for discovering our Welsh heritage and learning more about our ancestors. There will be no whining about an excess of William Joneses (Jan has cornered the market on that) and no discussion of DNA testing.

Jan Jones Batty is an amateur genealogist. Her mother, Megan Jones, was born in Ystradgynlais in south Wales and her paternal great-grandfather, Lewis Jones, was born in Llanwrin in north Wales. She is currently President of the Welsh Gymanfa Ganu Association of Wisconsin, member of the Welsh Club of the Milwaukee Area, and numerous Welsh and British Isles genealogical societies. At the national level, she serves as Secretary of the Welsh North American Association and Editor of its newsletter, HWYL. She is an active community volunteer at the high school and American Legion Post in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Jan earned a bachelor’s degree and MBA from Eastern Illinois University and is a retired IT technical writer.

SCGS is a non-profit organization and its mission is to promote genealogy and educational work in a professional manner, encourage and instruct its members in genealogical research through careful documentation and maintain quality genealogical standards.
