Delaware Nature Society's: Wildlife Mysteries & Myths
“Have you seen any Eagles?” As someone who wears binoculars on a hike (usually looking for
birds), this is the most common questions I am asked when I am outside. What does it tell
me? Eagles are big, well-known, noticeable, and impressive, and people want to talk about
them! In this talk, we’ll look at the mammals, reptiles, birds, insects, and other wildlife that
Delaware Nature Society naturalists are frequently asked about.
We will dispel some common myths, explore their unique habits and natural history, and hear some interesting accounts about
animal-human encounters. After 30 years of working at a nature center, Joe Sebastiani will share
his experience with nature including some odd wildlife stories in this entertaining and
educational program.
Joe Sebastiani has worked with the Delaware Nature Society for 25 years, where he is the
Director of Adult Engagement. Joe is the former President of the Delaware Ornithological
Society, has a bachelor’s degree in wildlife science from Penn State, and a master’s degree in
Education from West Chester University. As a native of Kennett Square, PA, he’s tromped
around the woods, fields, and wetlands of our area his whole life.
This event is presented by the Delaware Nature Society as part of our New Castle County Reads programming.
