Celebrate Pets! | DIY Button Making!

Did you know May 7-13 is National Pet Week! Celebrate your furry friends with us at the library by making your own button. Ages 10+.

DIY Pet Buttons!
Make your own Pet Button in this fun and free drop-in program. Each person can make up to three buttons. You may wish to make a custom button of your pet or we will also have generic buttons you can make like: Dog Mom, Cat Mom, Crazy Cat Lady, etc. All supplies included. Staff will be on-hand to assist.

DIY Custom Pet Button Making Instructions:

1. Ready to make a button of your furry friend on your own? Please follow the steps below:

  • Find your own digital photograph of your pet and copy and paste it into Microsoft Publisher (preferred) or Microsoft Word. Try to choose and image where the pet is centered in the photo. Please no copyrighted images.
  • Resize the image where the smallest size of the photo is 2.25 inches, the other side can be a tad longer. To do this copy and paste into publisher or word. Click on format in the ribbon at the top of the page. Adjust the height or width so one size is 2.25, and word/publisher should auto fill the other dimension.
  • You can brighten the image on publisher if needed. Go to fomat in the ribbon, and choose corrections.
  • Print the photo on regular paper. No cardstock or photo paper please.
  • Bring in your photo, and staff will help you make your button.

2. If you are interested in having your own custom pet button made by us --- please email us a photo of your pet to southcoastal.library@lib.de.us by April 28, 2023! Photos should be your own originals, be free of copyright restrictions, and the pet should be as close to the center of the photo as possible. We will prep your button, and have it ready for you to make starting Monday, May 8th.
