World Folk Music by String Theory
String Theory is a nine-member band, with most of the musicians serving as music instructors at the Univ. of Delaware’s Osher Life Long Learning Institute. We are an eclectic folk music band. Our repertoire includes Celtic and Appalachian fiddle tunes but also material from Eastern Europe, Latin countries, Africa and Scandinavia. Although our name suggests a string band, we also feature “honorary” string instruments such as a concertina, flute, accordion and a variety of percussion. Several of the band members are multi-instrumentalists and we typically play at least twelve instruments during a concert. We also have two vocalists in our group. This will be the third performance by the band at this library.
